Architecture Orientation

Monday 29, today is the orientation from 6:00 to 7:00 (right after my sketching class)

It was cool I won a Autocad Book because I answered a question at the end of the presentation.
The orientation covered an overall view of the architecture career and the different paths one can choose to take, also an introduction to all the staff that we will be seeing, including several architecture professors and the student community that runs the AIAS, that will be hosting several events like tours, conferences and workshops for the architecture students... members and non-members :)

To join the AIAS you pay a fee and get discounts for architecture materials ....oooo ',:O

AIAS

Yesterday, Monday august 22, I had my first architectural drawing class. It was super fun, we did blind contour sketching. The professor was teaching us about lines and to develop hand-eye communication, because apparently we couldn’t look at what we were sketching! The point of the activity was to fix your eyes on the object you were drawing and without separating your pencil from the paper (or looking at your paper) you and sketch a figure with depth. It was extremely relaxing.

At first we sketch a lose piece of paper that we wrinkled, then I sketched my hand AND THEN… WE SKETCHED OUR PARTNERS! (That we didn’t know yet ...) THAT… was extremely funny. The professor had us starring at a person that had to be staring at us back! PLUS we couldn’t move cause the other person was sketching us! Or at least trying to! J

Very, very fun, I will try to upload the sketches so you can laugh for a while. I learned about different types of lines and pencils width and softness. I used 5 pencils: 2H, H, F, 3B, 6B (listed from harder and thinner point to thicker and softer point)

Now I’ll tell you about my adventure in which I had to drive by myself from Davie road, BC Central Campus, all the way to Oakland Park Way then go down on the N Federal Highway to a store called Utrecht (not the city in Netherlands but an art store here in FL J ) … AND THEN SOUTH TO Las Olas Blvd to BC Downtown Campus!

I have to say that I did a good job in not getting lost J I made it to the store and 30 min early to class. Mission accomplished J

BUT NOW…

I had 30 min to waste … so I was talking to Daniel and remembered about the architecture club that BC offered… so I looked for the professor that was in charge of the club but he was nowhere to be found… until I went in my class and HELLO! The professor in charge of the club was in MY CLASS! What? He was there to tell us about the club AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students) , it sounded very cool because it offers contacts for future jobs or internships, and it tells you about different university programs and they help you transfer with ease to a university.

TREE HOUSES

OH yeah ...
my love... my adoration... tree houses :) .... ahhhhhhh
Today I decided it had been long ago since I used Stumble Upon, so... I first click! and it took me to a really nice webpage about design ---> www.dornob.com
SO ...First thing I see was an architecture click on which opened several options for architecture you might be interest on. The options are: addisions , contemporary, conversions, green homes, houseboats, offbeat, portable, prefab, TREE HOUSES, ultra modern , and urban design.
Let me just say that... THOSE ARE AWSOME OPTIONS°! :)

This is one of the tree houses I liked , please notice the detail of the tiles in every stair!

The attempt of a 3Dlooking chair...

The first attemt of sketching a 3d looking chair. I´m not gonna lie, it was really fun sketching this, because it is a battle of lines. BUT , I didn´t do a great job with it :p , I will try again  some time soon ( and find a chair with a better design than this one... or maybe design one myself ;) )

A Couple of Movies Later...

Those are not my toes!

Oh vacation time… all chill and time to go to the movies A LOT! ... and the beach of course. I´ve been wanting to blog, but then again I´ve been wanting to get an internship in the field of architecture of interior design BUT I have no idea where to start looking ( definitely something I´m going to blog the “how to” of getting an internship when I find out myself haha)… meanwhile I must start learning about measurement of space and buildings.

Cool, so this Tuesday I´m going to be traveling to Cancun with Daniel J gonna show him around Cancun and Playa del Carmen with all my Mexican friends. Oh yeah.

One of my very good friends in Cancun wants to be an architect and he is already working for his dad, so I should talk to him about what he does and how he sees the people in the field he works with. He is 19 J but hey he´s already working better ask him.

Now that I spilled my beans haha jk, now that I talked about me and my future actions… I leave you with a house I found:
Singapore’s dream home designed by Guz Architects.

One day at the Library

Sitting at the Library across the street from my highschool, Cypress Bay, I realize that I have only 8 min remaining in my computer session, and only 2 days of high school. No more homework or assignments, no more crowded hallways, no more waking up at 6:30 am to go to school. Now I'm going to graduate... Now I'm going to move on to another seccion in the story of my life. I look back at all I have acomplished and all the new faces I met and lost. Im proud and happy and ready for what is yet to come. I will continue with my blogs so I can continue to see the infinite possibilities of what I can create and what has been created.
My boyfriend Daniel and I, will be going to Cancun for my prom and of course I will introduce him to the excitement and beauty of my beloved homeland :) (and to party legaly!! yeeesssss!!!!) anyway... haha
I'll leave this as a reminder for me, because I know no one who reads my blogs...
The mind is super powerful, you can achieve whatever you set your mind for, AND Above all Things You Shall be Glad and Young.

ps: I want to follow blogs and the news.
